JICA Signs MoU with Harvesting Foundation

JICA has signed two MoUs with the Harvesting Foundation in Solan and Mandi to strengthen FPO formation and agri-business linkages in Himachal Pradesh. This partnership aims to empower farmers, boost rural economies, and expand market access through technical and institutional support.

Himachal Dastak Bureau | Hamirpur The Himachal Pradesh JICA-supported Agriculture Project on Thursday signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in the Solan and Mandi project-management districts. These MoUs aim at forming FPOs and strengthening agri-business relations. Sharing this information, Project Director Dr. Sunil Chauhan said that the Deputy Project Director of the State Project Management Unit, Dr. Rajesh, presided over the MoU-signing event held at the District Project Management Unit (DPMU), Solan. During the ceremony, Ruchit Garg, CEO of Harvesting Foundation, signed the MoU on behalf of the Foundation. On behalf of JICA, Dr. Rajendra Thakur and Dr. H.R. Verma signed the MoU, while the DPMUs of Solan and Mandi districts executed the agreement. MoU Signed to Strengthen Agri-Business Relations Other dignitaries present included Sudarshan Suryavanshi, Institutional Specialist; Dr. Narender Thakur, Post-Harvest and Processing Specialist; IC Specialist Sushil Kumar Sharma; DPMU Solan officials; and farmers. From the Solan B.P.M.U., Dr. Yuvraj attended, while Dr. Pawan from Nahan B.P.M.U., AEO Dr. Aishwarya, Agriculture Specialist Dr. Tanvi Sood, and Himani were also present. Dr. Rajesh, in his address, highlighted the powerful initiatives undertaken by the state government and the project to strengthen rural economies by empowering farmers financially. He mentioned that Dr. Sunil Chauhan has been providing maximum support to farmers in expanding their businesses through market and agri-business linkages.
